Hack In The North is the biggest student held hackathon in India. 300 students from all across India will come together in IIIT Allahabad this March and spend 36 hours building projects they are passionate about. Hack In The North is open for university and high school students.
What is HackInTheNorth?
HackInTheNorth is the annual Hackathon organized at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad. It is one of the largest student-organized hackathons in India.
Who runs Hack In The North?
Hack In The North is run by students of IIIT Allahabad.
Can we apply as a team?
Yes.You can either apply individually or as a team of two(2) to four(4). For those applying individually,we will have a session where you can form your team for the event. Team applications won't be considered individually.
How and when will I hear back?
We would start shortlisting the candidates from mid January. You will get a mail from us if you get shortlisted.
Who can apply?
If you are enrolled in a high school or university, or if you left univeristy during the current year, you are good to go!!
What should I bring?
Laptop, Charger and Change of clothes. If you want to hack on Arduino, PI, Oculus Rift or any other hardware we recommend you to bring that too if you have one. You won't need food or drinks; we've got you covered there.
What do people normally make?
You can make anything you like. Most of the hacks revolve around web or phone apps, or working with hardware.
What are you looking for in an application?
Above anything else -- passion . Tell us what you care about, what excites you. We want to know what'll drive you to start and continue hacking, whether it's your first time or your fifteenth. If there's something about you that stands out from the "typical" hacker, we'd love to hear about that, too!
How to reach IIIT Allahabad?
Allahabad is well connected to all major cities of India by Train. There is also a domestic airport in Allahabad which have daily serice to Delhi. Varansi International Airport is 3 hour drive from Allahabad while Lucknow International Airport is 5 hour away.
What if my teammates opted for individual registration,but some have been selected while some not?
You can email us to reconsider such applications.But please note that the decision of our registration team will stand final.
What is the criteria for selection of a team?
We will select a team if atleast 50% of the members of any team would have qualified for the hackathon had they applied individually.
Do you provide any travel reimbursements for the event?
Not quite. But in certain cases where we find the profile of a developer/team to be extra-ordinary,we may consider it again.In any case,we will need valid proof that you cannot afford travelling to Allahabad.Contact us in such a case.
When am I expected to reach Allahabad?
Hack In The North is a 36-hour hackathon that will start on 23rd of March,2017 at 11:59 PM. You are expected to reach us latest by 23rd March,5:00 PM as there will be an orientation and session for team-formation before the hackathon starts.
How much does it cost to attend?
Zero. HackInTheNorth is free for everyone. We won't charge you anything.
